World renowned English Premier League soccer club Arsenal has partnered with leading sports betting firm, SportPesa to bring a coaching camp to Kenya between May 23-28th.
SportPesa chief executive officer, Ronald Karauri, said the objective of the camp is to give international coaching exposure to coaches thus sharpen their skills. “The essence is to develop a local football curriculum based on the Arsenal Academy programme for our coaches,” he said. A team of 3 Arsenal coaches; consisting of Paul Drew Tyler, Mohammed Moaz Awadelkarim and Rupen Shah will accompany legendary Sol Campbell for the six-day event.
“In our commitment to improving football standards in Kenya, we will be conducting an Arsenal Football Training Camp with 60 of our certified Kenyan coaches at Kenya School of Monetary Studies on Thika Road. The hashtag we will be using across all our communication is #JengaGame. This is in line with our sole purpose of improving the football standards in the country,” continued Karauri.
The 60 certified coaches earmarked for the training camp have been drawn from the 16 Kenya Premier League, under 19 championships while the other 44 are from the grass roots football clubs across Nairobi, Coast, Nyanza, Western, Eastern, Rift Valley, Central and North Eastern. He further added that the trained coaches will form the Arsenal Kenya SportPesa talent scouting team, which will conduct holiday camps to select players for future training camps.- The Star
