Alex Dende aka Lexxus Légal is one of the Hip-Hop pioneers from Kinshasa (Democratic Republic of Congo). He is one of the founders of the band PNB – Pensée Nègre Brute / Raw Nigger Thought and believes in the power of music and culture for bringing about social and political change. Perceived as a wrong note in the country of the Rumba (dominant musical current in DRC), this ex B-Boy (hip hop dancer)made his debut in the rap in the 90’s under the influence of the American group “Public Enemy”.
Lexxus Légal sings about the political and social situation in his country of origin, about HIV/AIDS, against violence and intolerance. Other issues raised in his songs are borders in general and the “art of peace”, as he puts it. Dende is also an organizing member of the “Mimi Sud”, the “Cœur d’Afrique” and the “Racine Alternative” festivals.
Hiphop meets Reggae. Lexxus Legal collaborates with Tiken Jah in OSER LA PAIX, singing for peace and awareness in DR Congo
